Minor Mods

Just 1 minor mod to show. The original license plate was too big for my liking. When I first bought the car, it had the frame with the name of the company who sold me the car. When I went back for my servicing, the guys asked me how come I took off the frame. I said that if they are willing to pay me for advertising their company, I will gladly put it back on. Case closed. So, I had the frame removed and had the license plate stuck to the original frame using double-sided tape. If you would notice, the original frame covered a section of the 'mouth' of the car. So, I had the original frame removed also and fabricated my own license plate holder. As you can see, the 'mouth' is wide open now!

Inspired by Ferrari Mods

Sometimes in life, you want something so much you would do anything to have it. When I saw the rear fins on the F430, I knew I had to have it...the fins, I mean, not the car. Well, of course, I rather have the car that comes with the fins but since it is way, way, way beyond what I can afford, I decided that the fins should sufficed. It was an easy mod to do. A quick trip to the auto shop to buy 3 pieces of shark fins, some black glue, a can of matt black spray paint and voila...I have fins! Yee-ha. Well, there were some technical details that needed attention but I went around all that and as you can see, they looked like they are moulded on the rear valance rather than stuck on. There were mixed reactions to the fins. I did it, as usual, as a project to see how long I will keep it on before I take them off. Strangely enough, they seem to grow on me and I have not thought about taking them off yet. Coupled with the quad-pipes set-up, they gave the rear of the car a rather distinct look not seen on any other car (except the F430).

I swopped the centre arm-rest as you can see. The stock arm-rest were fixed but this one is movable back and forth. It is definitely more functional although storage space is slightly reduced. In any case, I am one person who hates clutter in the car. Therefore, you don't see things hanging on the rear-view mirror, decals on the windscreen except for my road tax disc. Even my iPod is stashed in the boot and I control it using the iCruze. The reason is simple, having things jingling around will distract you and decals on the windscreen reduce visibility. You want to see as much as possible in front and behind. I think there should be a law against people who have Snow White and the 12 dwarfs on the rear deck board of the car. How is the fellow gonna see who and what is behind him with all that obstruction. Call it personalisation but to me, that is a real safety issue for the driver and the guy behind because he cannot see further than Sleepy or Grumpy.

The de-chroming phase of the car has also started. The M5 front kidney grill was the first to go. In its place, good old standard black grill. Somewhere down the line, I went all the way and had the chrome surrounds replaced by black ones but I think it is not nice. So, instead of the shiny chrome surround, I dulled them using a dull lacquer. The centre piece of the M-tech front bumper was also sprayed black so all you see is a horizontal line instead of a T.
